Head start jobs3/28/2024 ![]() ![]() I am sending you this message at this moment to directly respond to all of the feedback the Office of Head Start has received throughout the course of last year about the Full Enrollment Initiative. I really hope that things are going well for you in this new year. I am Khari Garvin, the director of the Office of Head Start. ACF-IM-HS-22-09 Enrollment Reductions and Conversion of Head Start Slots to Early Head Start Slotsĭirector Garvin’s Message on Full Enrollment Initiativeĭirector Khari Garvin: Hello, everyone.ACF-PI-HS-18-04 Full Enrollment Initiative.He also highlights under-enrollment supports and Full Enrollment Initiative resources already available: Director Garvin shares that OHS is creating new technical assistance resources to expedite the process and shorten the timetable for approvals. The video includes good news for grant recipients proposing to adjust their program design or structure through the Change in Scope application process. It is never an easy message to deliver, but we want to do so as compassionately as possible. OHS has already changed the tone of the letter that we must send out to grant recipients to announce inclusion in the Full Enrollment Initiative. He explains that OHS is evaluating areas where we can be more responsive to and mindful of each grant recipient that is under-enrolled. It is definitely not the tone that OHS wants to set with Head Start grant recipients across the country who are working so hard to navigate challenging times.ĭirector Garvin also announces renewed commitment going forward to improve the quality of the customer service you experience while participating in the Full Enrollment Initiative. He stresses that the intention of the Full Enrollment Initiative is not to be burdensome. Garvin directly responds to your feedback. It can feel as though OHS is unaware of staffing challenges and other factors that make it difficult for Head Start programs to maintain full enrollment. We have heard from many of you about how it feels like an unfair burden. Throughout the last year, the Office of Head Start (OHS) received feedback from grant recipients about the Full Enrollment Initiative. ![]()
